Youth confirmation, or catechism, instruction is given to students in 7th and 8th grade to prepare them for their earthly lifetime as well as eternity in heaven. Our youth confirmation program at Cross & Crown emphasizes the role God set forth for parents in passing their faith on to their children.
Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
Parents have the option of teaching the confirmation lessons to their son or daughter or attending with their child while a pastor teaches. Parents who choose to present the lessons meet monthly with the Pastor to study and review the upcoming lessons. These parents then teach the lessons to their children in the following weeks. The child attends class with the pastor and other students for review night, also once a month. Parents who choose to attend classes with their child attend weekly classes, except for the review night when only the students attend. This is not an either/or choice, but can be modified for each family. Parents may choose to teach lessons that they are perhaps more comfortable with and attend classes with their child for others.
